BBL™ DrySlide™ Indole is used for determining the indole reaction of bacteria. The indole test is a qualitative procedure for determining the ability of bacteria to produce indole by reductive deamination of tryptophan. Vracko and Sherris showed that the indole test can be performed using filter paper moistened with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DMABA), an effective indicator of indole production.
